Maritime History of the Gulf Coast Lecture Series

The Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park & Cultural Center will host a free public lecture series entitled “Maritime History of the Gulf Coast” throughout the month of February. Lectures will be held every Saturday in February, begining on February 6th, inside the Indian Temple Mound Museum Lazarus Education Center.

The programs will begin at noon and run until 1:00p.m. University of West Florida graduate students will deliver the lectures. The schedule of lectures in the series will be as follows:

Feb. 6th- Brian Mabelitini, “Confederate Defenses on the Apalachicola River, Florida: Neal’s Bluff Battery”
Feb. 13th- Dean Nones, “Pensacola’s Maritime Brick Industry from 1750 to 1900″
Feb. 20th- Sarah Linden, Materials of Conquest: Insights from the Metal Artifact Analysis of Three Early Spanish Expeditions
Feb. 27th- Wes Perrine, “The B-Street Schooner: Uncovering Pensacola’s 19th Century Lumber Industry and Maritime Landscape”
